BHUTAN – Jakar Dzong in Bhutan is a fortress in the Tibetan/Bhutanese architectural style overlooking the town of Jakar in the Bumthang District.
Situated on a mountainside above the Chamkhar Valley, the current fortress is built on the site of a former temple constructed by Ralung Hierarch Yongzin Ngagi Wangchuk when he came to Bhutan.
This fortress was built in 1667 to commemorate the victory of the Tibetan ruler Phuntsho Namgyal.
